October 12th 2007. An Oerlikon GDF-005 anti-aircraft cannon with automated range finders and radar, firing 550 high-explosive 0,5kg 35mm cannon shells per minute goes berzerk and starts firing at soldiers, spinning uncontrollably. A female soldier rushes heroically to help the gunner unjam the cannon, but the massacre stops only after the the twin 250-round auto-loading magazines are spent. Eight people die on the spot, one dies on their way to the hospital, fourteen injured. Cause of the malfunction is as of yet unknown, software glitch is suspected.
(Follow the link for more informations. This deadly and too real incident reminds me of this scene in Robocop when a robot malfunctions and kills an executive during a demonstration.)
Of course.
